"In the same way that sprinkler systems, ADA, and energy efficient lighting came with financial incentives, the IBWA hopes to demonstrate the public and safety benefits associated with coverage in office buildings."

Request for Proposal

The IBWA provides implementation evaluations, recommendations, and proposals through its members for those building owners seeking the procurement of new wireless communication systems to support building/campus environments. This RFP document formalizes the request for new wireless communication systems consistent with appropriate Information Services standards. RFPs provided by the IBWA respond to technical and functional requirements and provide vendors with information necessary to complete a proposal. The RFP is meant to be solution agnostic, in that it does not promote one solution/in-building infrastructure over any other. Passive, Active, Hybrid and other system types all have their own plusses and minuses and some are better for certain buildings than others. We encourage all building owners to invite vendors of different types of solutions to present to them so that they can understand the various options available.

The RFP is divided into the following sections:
  • Introduction -- informs vendors of how this document is assembled.
  • Overview -- includes RFP objectives and scope, project schedule and general project information.
  • In-Building Wireless System (IBWS) Specification -- outlines wireless communication requirements including the functional and technical specifications for wireless systems and the advanced features of the system.
  • Vendor Requirements -- informs vendors of minimum requirements for the project.
  • Requirements -- identifies rights and responsibilities during the project.
  • Instructions -- contains general information on the RFP process and specific instructions for preparing the response.

Upon completion, please email the RFP document as well as any building specifications (if available) to info@ibwalliance.org. Thank you.
